Mono-Jetronic
The potentiometer sends information about the position of the throttle valve to the control unit. The control unit uses this information to control the operation of the valve injector, oxygen sensor, idle speed and CO content. A break in the wires of the electrical circuit of the potentiometer causes a long glow of the signaling device for a malfunction of the vehicle's self-diagnosis system.
Press locking tabs and disconnect potentiometer plug.
Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between pins 1 and 5 of the connector. The prescribed resistance value is 520-1300 ohms.
Measure the resistance between tracks 1 and 2. While doing this, slowly open the throttle valve. First, the resistance should change, and after the damper opens 1/4, it should remain unchanged. The minimum resistance value should be 600 ohms, and the maximum 3500 ohms.
Measure the resistance between pins 1 and 4 while slowly opening the damper again by hand. Until the damper has traveled 1/4 of its way, the resistance should remain constant, and then it should change. The prescribed values are: maximum - 6600 ohms, minimum - 600 ohms.
If the resistance does not change or the prescribed value is not reached, the entire lower part of the central injection system must be replaced. Replacing or adjusting the throttle potentiometer is not allowed.
