Digifant injection system with variable catalyst (motors PF, PG and 2E up to 7/92)
Test prerequisite: The exhaust system between the catalytic converter and the engine cylinder head must be leak-tight.
Attention: Only connect devices with the ignition switched off.
Check the adjustment of the CO content and idling, if necessary, adjust these parameters.
Warm up the engine to an engine oil temperature of at least +80°C.
Check oxygen sensor heating. To do this, disconnect the plug (arrow) oxygen sensor and connect a voltmeter to the gray wire of the plug and ground. With the ignition on, the voltmeter should show a voltage of approximately 11.5 V. After that, reconnect the plug.
Connect the CO measuring device to the CO sampling tube in the engine compartment. The extraction tube is welded to the front exhaust pipe and is usually closed with a light blue cap.
Caution: Push the hose of the measuring device securely onto the sampling tube and make sure that the connection is tight.
PF, PG engines: start the engine and let it idle for at least two minutes.
Engine 2E up to 7/92: start the engine, increase the speed to 20001 /min, then leave the engine to idle.
Read and record the reading of the instrument for measuring the CO content.
PF, PG engines: Disconnect the hose from the pressure regulator at the throttle valve connection and close the connection with your thumb.
Engine 2E up to 7/92: disconnect the hose from the branching element in the line to the brake booster; for vehicles with anti-lock braking device, disconnect complete with branching element.
The CO content should rise for a short time and then fall again. This indicates that the oxygen sensor regulation is OK and the test is complete.
If the CO content does not decrease, disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
Oxygen sensor wire to control unit (left pin of plug) Alternately connect to ground using an auxiliary wire (-) and positive pole (+) battery.
If the CO content now changes, replace the oxygen sensor, see chapter «Exhaust system».
Otherwise, the electrical wires to the control unit, as well as the control unit itself, check (workshop work) and replace if necessary.
Connect the vacuum hose and oxygen sensor wire.
