Steering specifications are shown in Table 6-1.
The steering gear consists of right and left steering rods. The outer cones are attached to the steering knuckles, and the inner cones are attached to the rail.
Starting with the vehicle identification number 3A R 099 265, the ball studs of the modified TRW type tie rods are installed. which are interchangeable with the ball studs of cars of previous releases, provided that all ball studs are replaced with new design studs. It is forbidden to install fingers of the old and new design together. The shaft of the new pin is extended by 3 mm and has a cylindrical recess and a centering point at the end (pic. 6-1 and 6-2).

B - conical recess in the end of the rod.
The power steering includes a high pressure pump and a spool-type distributor and a power cylinder, which is combined into one unit with the steering mechanism.
On vehicles with a diesel engine and on vehicles with air conditioning, there is a power steering fluid cooler, made in the form of a pipeline. laid on the subframe of the front of the car.
Details of a steering are presented on fig. 6-3.
