To remove, place the rear of the vehicle on stands and remove the rear wheel. Tilt the back of the rear seat forward. Unclip the seat belt buckle using a screwdriver and remove it from the belt. Loosen the screw securing the seat belt retractor trim and remove the trim. Bend back the upholstery inside the luggage compartment, unscrew the bolt securing the seat belt reel and remove the reel. Loosen the two bolts securing the upper shock absorber mount (pic. 5-7). Loosen the shock absorber lower end bolt and remove the shock absorber from the suspension arm. Remove the lugs of the upper shock absorber mounting from the cutouts by turning the shock absorber approximately 45°and remove the shock absorber from the upper support.
Compress the suspension spring with a universal spring compressor. Remove the cap and O-ring using the screwdriver as a lever. Loosen the shock absorber body nut while holding the shock absorber rod with a socket wrench. Remove the washer, upper rubber pad, upper sponge rubber seat, spacer, lower rubber pad, metal cap, washer, and lower spring seat. Remove the suspension spring from the shock absorber.
To install, compress the suspension spring with a universal device and install it on the shock absorber. Install the lower spring seat and install the spring, being careful not to. so that the lower coil of the spring enters the groove of the cup as far as it will go. Install the washer, metal cap, lower rubber pad and spacer onto the shock absorber rod. Install the upper shock mount with a new sponge rubber gasket. Install the top support in this way. so that the straight line passing through the centers of the two threaded holes is at an angle of 50°relative to the axis of the bolt for attaching the lower end of the shock absorber (pic. 5-8).
Install the upper rubber cushion, washer and tighten the shock absorber body nut to the required torque. Install the O-ring, press on the cap with the projections with a press. so that the two protrusions are located along the axis of the bolt of the lower end of the shock absorber. Install the shock absorber with suspension spring to the vehicle in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- observe the required tightening torques for threaded connections;
- Tighten the shock absorber lower end bolt after the vehicle is lowered to the ground.
