Removal and installation of telescopic struts and front suspension springs

To remove, lift the front of the car. place it on a stand and remove the front wheel. Unscrew the nut securing the upper strut support to the body, holding the strut rod with a hex wrench inserted into the recess at the end of the rod (pic. 5-2). Mark the positions of the telescopic strut-to-knuckle mounting bolts and remove the bolts. Remove the telescopic pole from the vehicle Use the special tool to clamp the telescopic pole in a vise. Loosen the nut from the rack rod. Compress the suspension spring with a universal spring compressor and loosen the top nut. Remove the strut top support, spring cup, and washer from the strut stem. Remove suspension spring. Remove the compression stroke buffer and bushing from the strut rod.



At installation to put on a rod of a rack the plug and the buffer of a course of compression. Pull out the rack rod to failure. Compress the suspension spring and put it on the telescopic strut Install the washer, the spring cup, then the upper support of the telescopic strut on the rod of the strut, checking the condition of the support. Screw the nut onto the rack rod and tighten it to the required torque. Remove the spring compressor. making sure that the ends of the spring are correctly installed in the supports. Install the telescopic pole on the vehicle. Screw the bolts of the telescopic strut to the steering knuckle according to the previously made marks or adjust the camber angle of the front wheels.

If telescopic struts are replaced, check the toe angle of the front wheels.
