Removal and installation of the generator

To remove, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Put match marks on the wire connectors and disconnect them. Loosen the alternator bracket bolt (two mounting bolts on vehicles with 16-valve engines) and the bolt of the tension bar, loosen the tension of the alternator drive belt and remove the belt, having previously removed the power steering pump drive belt, depending on the vehicle configuration. Loosen the alternator mounting bolts and remove the alternator.

When installing, put the generator in place and wrap the mounting bolts without tightening them. Put on the alternator drive belt and, depending on the configuration. power steering pump drive belt. Adjust the alternator drive belt tension as shown below. Tighten the alternator mounting bolts.

Connect the wire connectors to the generator according to the previously marked marks. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery. Start the engine and check that the battery charging indicator lamp goes out.
