Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal. Remove generator. Disconnect hoses from water pump. Loosen the pump mounting bolts. Take out the pump. Remove the sealing collar, which must not be reused.
Thoroughly clean the surfaces to which the cuff is attached. Install a new seal. Install the water pump to the cylinder block. Tighten the pump mounting bolts. Connect hoses to water pump. Install the alternator Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery. Fill the system with coolant.
To disassemble and assemble the water pump, remove the pump drive pulley.
Loosen the bolts of the pump cover and remove it complete with the bushing, shaft and impeller, disconnect the cover from the gasket plane with light blows of a plastic mallet. Unscrew the thermostat fitting and remove the thermostat with a sealing cuff (pic. 2-30).
The pump cover is integral with the bearing and cannot be separated from it; if a malfunction is detected, they are replaced as a set. Install the pump housing gasket after applying sealant. Assemble the pump in the reverse order of disassembly.
On cars manufactured in 1995-1996, equipped with air conditioning, a three-speed electric fan is used. The third speed of the electric fan is switched on by a sensor mounted on the coolant outlet hose from the cylinder head on the left. The temperature of switching on the fan motor by the third sensor is 110-115°С. switch-off temperature 105-110°C.
