Remove the two bolts securing the oil pump cover to the housing. Separate the cover from the body.
Remove drive shaft and oil pump drive gear. Wash the pump housing with gasoline. If the oil pump parts are very dirty, remove the oil receiver, remove the oil receiver strainer and clean it.
Check clearance (pic. 2-32) between gear teeth, which should be equal to 0.05 mm (maximum allowable 0.20 mm), and the gap between the outer diameter of the gears and the bore of the oil pump housing. which should be no more than 0.15 mm.
Assemble the oil pump in the reverse order of disassembly.
To check the oil pressure in the lubrication system, disconnect the wires from the oil pressure sensor, remove the sensor and screw in the control pressure gauge hose fitting instead.
Start the engine and let it run until the oil temperature reaches 80°C. Measure the oil pressure at idle and at a crankshaft speed of 2500 rpm. which should be equal to 1.6-2.0 and 5.0-6.0 kgf/cm, respectively2. Remove the control pressure gauge, replace the oil pressure sensor and connect the wires to it.
