When replacing the cable and other drive parts, it is not necessary to remove the selector lever bracket.
Removing the selector lever and transmission control cable
Place the car on a lift. Remove protective tray. Loosen the front bolts of the selector lever (pic. 4-63). Disconnect the exhaust system up to the exhaust gas converter. Remove the front cover. Loosen the selector lever rear bolts and remove the selector lever. To remove the selector lever cable, follow the above steps, then:
- remove the lock washer;
- disconnect cable eye from selector lever (pic. 4-64);
- Disconnect the cable from the shift lever and shift rod on the transmission bracket.
Installing the transmission control cable
Warning. The cable should not have deflections and twists. Lubricate the eyelet and cable ends with a thin layer of grease before installation.
Attach the cable sheath to the support and selector lever bracket and tighten the fastening bolt to a torque of 2 kgf·m. Check the reliability of the fastening of the cable sheath between the bracket and the lever and rod of the gearbox control drive and lock the cable with a corrugated gasket. Connect the cable eye to the selector lever and secure it with a lock washer (pic. 4-64).
Gearbox cable adjustment
Set selector lever to position «R». Loosen the flanged bolt securing the cable to the lever and the gearbox control rod. Set the lever and the gearbox control rod to the position «R». In this case, the locking lever engages with the gear wheel of the parking lock and blocks both front wheels. in this position, tighten the shoulder bolt to 2.5 kgf·m.
