To obtain the required bearing preload, tighten the adjusting nuts by another 5 teeth and caulk them.
Put on the nut of the main gear drive shaft the head on «41» and measure the moment of resistance to rotation of the differential with a dynamometer, which for new bearings should be 0.6-0.8 Nm more than the moment measured with the final drive drive gear installed. At the same time, do not rotate the differential in order to prevent self-alignment of the bearing rollers, otherwise the correct torque measurement will be violated. When installing run-in bearings, the torque must be equal to that measured during disassembly.
Note. Other maintenance and repair operations for the 01M gearbox are carried out in the same way as for the 096 gearbox.
