Determination of the thickness of the adjusting ring of the input shaft bearings

Using an indicator, check the axial movement of the input shaft (table 4-4), then measure the moment of resistance to turning the bearings of the input shaft, which should be no more than 0.2 kgf·m, as is done on the secondary shaft (pic. 4-24), and select the thickness of the adjusting ring.

Note. The selection of the adjusting ring is considered correct if the input shaft rotates freely, has no axial clearance, but has a noticeable radial clearance.
