Press the bearing outer race into the clutch housing with a press, placing the adjusting ring under it. Press the needle bearing into the gearbox housing and center it at three points every 120°.
Press tapered roller bearings onto output shaft, press bearing inner race into cover. Install the front bearing cover, thrust washer with the shoulder towards the tapered roller bearing, the 1st gear with a needle bearing on the output shaft.
Install the 1st gear synchronizer blocking ring with three missing teeth around the circumference on the gear.
Press the hub assembly with the synchronizer clutch of 1st and 2nd gears with a wide shoulder of the hub towards the 1st gear gear and a ring gear of the coupling towards the 2nd gear gear (pic. 4-31). Install retaining ring. Install the 2nd gear synchronizer blocking rings with three internal cutouts. Install 2nd gear with needle bearing. Install thrust washer. Install the 3rd gear gear with needle bearing and bushing on the shaft. Install the 3rd gear synchronizer ring on the gear. Press the hub assembly with the synchronizer clutch of III and IV gears with a press (pic. 4-32), directing the chamfer of the inner hole of the hub towards the gear of the IV gear (pic. 4-33). Press on the 4th gear needle bearing bushing with a press. Install the 4th gear synchronizer ring, then the 4th gear and needle bearing. Install the thrust washer, then press on the needle bearing bush (in 5-speed gearbox) or install spacer (in 4-speed gearbox).
* For cars manufactured in 1995-96. the gap for the second gear is 1.2-1.8 mm.
