Using special keys to remove the radio from the socket in the instrument panel
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
Warning: When the ground wire is removed from the battery, the contents of the memory cells of the electronic control units and the radio receiver are erased.
3. As standard equipment, a radio receiver with a coded anti-theft device, which is based on a microprocessor, is installed on the car. After disconnecting the radio from the car's electrical network (battery removal, radio removal, or initial radio installation) you must enter a security code. The radio can only be switched on after entering the correct code.
4. Before removing the ground wire from the battery, check if you have the radio code. In the absence of a security code, the radio can only be put into operation at a specialized Volkswagen station. The radio's individual security code is available in the technical documentation supplied with the vehicle upon sale.
5. To remove the radio, use two special keys 3316, see fig. A special key used to remove the radio from the car.
6. Insert two keys into the narrow slots located on both sides of the radio until the keys lock, see fig. The location of narrow slots for installing special keys when removing the radio.
7. Using the key heads, remove the radio from the socket (see fig. Using special keys to remove the radio from the socket in the instrument panel). When removing the radio, do not tilt the radio or pull it to the side.
8. Remove the special keys by pushing down the side latches of the radio.
9. Disconnect from the radio the electrical connectors of the loudspeakers and the antenna, as well as the multi-pin connector for supplying voltage to the radio. If non-multi-pin connectors are used for connection, label the connectors before disconnecting them.
Installation
1. Connect the electrical connectors to the back of the radio.
2. Insert the radio receiver into the socket of the instrument panel until the spring clips click into place.
3. Connect ground wire to battery.
4. After installing the radio, enter the security code. Radios with a security code have a red key emblem on the front button. The radio's individual security code is available in the technical documentation supplied with the vehicle upon sale. Keep a record of the individual code in a safe place and never keep it in the vehicle.
5. Enter the radio's security code as follows.
6. Turn on the radio.
7. Simultaneously press the TR and TA keys until 1000 appears, then release the keys.
8. Enter the security code using station selection keys 1 to 4. Key 1 determines the first code number, key 2 the second code number, etc.
9. Press the TR and TA keys simultaneously again until SAVE appears, then release the keys. Now the receiver is put into operation, and the frequency of the received radio station is shown on the display. If the security code has been correctly entered into the radio, then after removing the key from the ignition, the LED next to the name of the radio should flash.
Warning: If an incorrect security code has been entered into the radio, SAVE will first flash and then stay on. After that, you can only repeat the process of entering the security code once. If the security code is entered incorrectly again, the radio will be locked out and cannot be put into service for one hour. After an hour, during which the radio should be on, re-enter the security code.
