If the engine does not start and the starter does not work

Order of execution

1. If it is an automatic transmission model, make sure the shift lever is in P or N.

2. Open the hood and make sure the battery terminals are clean and live.

3. Turn on the headlights and try to start the engine. If the headlights dim when you try to start the engine, you probably have a dead battery. In this case, try starting the engine from an external source.
