Cooling system fan

The cooling system fan is driven by the engine via a V-belt with ribs. The fan speed is controlled by a viscous clutch depending on the temperature of the coolant.

In addition, depending on the model of the installed engine and vehicle equipment (e.g. automatic transmission, factory installed trailer hitch, air conditioning) in the engine cooling system there may be an additional electric fan with automatic control.

Warning: After the engine has stopped, the fan may still (up to 10 minutes) rotate - also after switching off the ignition.

A stopped fan can also suddenly start to rotate again after some time if:

• the temperature of the coolant has increased due to the temperature difference in the engine;
• when the engine is hot, the air temperature in the engine compartment has increased due to intense solar radiation.
