Vehicles with a catalytic converter
Motors 74 kW, 92 kW, 110 kW (1.8 l) and 110 kW (2.3 l)
Super unleaded petrol with an octane rating of 95 or regular unleaded petrol with an octane rating of at least 91.
When using unleaded normal gasoline with an octane rating of 91, there is a slight decrease in power.
Engine 142 kW
Super unleaded petrol 98 octane.
It is possible to use super unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 95 without any restrictions.
Due to the presence of an automatic ignition timing control device depending on the quality of gasoline (anti-knock regulation) some reduction in engine power is possible under unfavorable operating conditions. This can be partially eliminated by using unleaded gasoline "super" with an octane rating of 98.
Vehicles without a catalytic converter
Motors 74 and 92 kW
Suler gasoline unleaded or leaded with an octane rating of 95 or normal gasoline unleaded or leaded with an octane rating of at least 91. The use of normal gasoline leads to a slight decrease in engine power.
If you only have fuel with a lower octane rating than required for a given engine, you should only drive the vehicle at medium engine speed and reduced engine load.
Warning: A heavy load on the engine due to fully depressing the accelerator pedal can lead to engine damage.
As soon as possible, the fuel tank should be immediately topped up with gasoline of sufficient octane rating.
You can unlimitedly use gasoline with a higher octane rating than is required for this engine. However, this does not give any gain in either engine power or fuel consumption.
Warning: Vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter should only be run on unleaded gasoline.
Warning: Only one filling of the fuel tank with leaded gasoline leads to a subsequent reduction in the efficiency of the catalytic converter.
In the interests of protecting the environment, vehicles not equipped with a catalytic converter should also be filled with unleaded petrol whenever possible.
Additives for gasoline
The smooth running, power and durability of the engine are decisively determined by the quality of the fuel. Additives added to the fuel are of particular importance here (additives). Therefore, it is recommended to refuel the car only with high-quality gasoline with additives.
If you do not have such gasoline at your disposal or if there are violations in the operation of the engine, it is necessary to mix the necessary additives with fuel when refueling the car. These additives have an anti-corrosion effect, clean the parts of the fuel supply system and remove various kinds of deposits in the engine.
Not all additives that are offered on the market have proven to be effective enough. Therefore, you should purchase well-proven additives called "Genuine Volkswagen/Audi fuel additives for gasoline engines" at Volkswagen service centers.
Do not mix other gasoline additives.
