- 1 - driver's door,
- 2 - front passenger door,
- 3 - safety switch,
- 4 - rear right door,
- 5 - rear left door
In addition, additional switches for the respective windows are located in the front passenger door and in the rear doors.
The power windows for the rear windows can be deactivated using safety switch 3 in the driver's door.
The safety switch is released, the switches in the rear doors are operational.
Safety switch latched, rear door switches disabled.
Power windows with automatic window closing control are equipped with overload protection.
The closing of the window is automatically stopped when an obstacle is placed in the way of the glass movement. However, this does not happen when the windows are closed from the outside with the ignition key - the overload protection does not work.
Power window operation with ignition on
opening
By pressing the corresponding switch in front (driver's door) or on the bottom of the switch (right front door and rear doors) and briefly hold in this position, the window opens completely (automatic window down).
When the switch is actuated again, the glass stops immediately.
Automatic window closing (front doors)
When briefly lifting the front (driver's door) or by clicking on the top (right front door) the corresponding switch, the window closes completely (automatic window up).
When the switch is actuated again, the glass stops immediately.
The power windows of the rear doors are equipped only with an automatic window lowering device. To close the window, hold down the switch until the desired window position is reached.
Overload protection
1 - If the movement of the glass when closing the window of one of the front doors is hindered by something (overload protection trip), the window immediately reopens.
2 - After the window has opened, you should once again raise the switch of the corresponding window and hold it within 5 seconds. If the window does not close due to the difficulty of moving the glass or due to the presence of any obstacle, the glass stops in an intermediate position.
3 - After the window has stopped, you must lift the switch again within 5 seconds and hold it to close the window. The window will now close without overload protection.
If the pause between your individual actions has exceeded 5 seconds, when you actuate the switch again, the window opens completely again.
Closing a window without the help of automation
Hold the switch in the raised position by the top edge (driver window) or press the top of the switch (right front window and rear side windows) until the window is completely closed.
Please note that the window closes without the action of the overload protection device.
Operation of the power windows when the ignition is off
The power windows remain operational for 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off, as long as one of the front doors has not been opened.
On vehicles with central locking, the windows can also be closed or opened from the outside. To do this, you only need to hold the key in the lock of one of the front doors in the locking or unlocking position.
opening
Pushing forward (driver window) or to the bottom (for right front window and rear side windows) the corresponding switch and briefly holding it in this position, the window opens completely (automatic window down).
When the switch is actuated again, the glass stops immediately.
Closing
Hold the front edge of the switch up (driver window) or top face pressed (for right front window and rear side windows) until the window is completely closed. Automatic window closing does not work.
If the movement of the glass when closing the window of one of the front doors is difficult or obstructed, the window immediately reopens (overload protection).
In this case, the window can be closed only by turning on the ignition.
After disconnecting and then reconnecting the vehicle's battery, the automatic lowering and raising of the windows of the front doors ceases to function.
In order to restore the operation of automation, you must do the following:
- lock the car from the outside using one of the front doors. At the same time, make sure that all doors and windows are completely closed;
- re-lock the vehicle using one of the front doors. While doing this, hold the key in the locked position for at least one second.
The automatic lifting of the front windows, as well as the lowering of all windows, will be turned on again.
If there is a malfunction in the power window, this is signaled by the flashing of the illumination of the switches in the front doors, as well as in the rear doors.
If, after switching on the ignition, all the light inserts in the door trim flash for approximately 15 seconds. You should contact a Volkswagen workshop.
