The gearbox is a very complex unit and its repair must be carried out in a specialized workshop. Also, when removing and installing many parts, it is necessary to measure the gaps and, if necessary, adjust them, which requires the use of appropriate shims and washers. Not only are transmission parts not commercially available and must be ordered, they are also extremely expensive. If the gearbox is faulty or running with a lot of noise, it is advisable to have the gearbox repaired by a specialist or replace the gearbox, which can cost significantly less. However, some transmission problems can be repaired without removing the transmission from the vehicle.

However, despite all the difficulties, an experienced specialist can repair the gearbox at home. In this case, it is necessary to have special tools and perform the work sequentially, step by step, marking the operations performed. When repairing the gearbox, it is necessary to use special circlip pliers, bearing pullers, an inertial hammer, a set of punches, a micrometer and a hydraulic press.

Before removing the gearbox, try to determine the gearbox malfunction as accurately as possible, which will greatly facilitate repairs in the future.
