Order of execution
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the expansion tank of the cooling system from the bracket and, without disconnecting the hoses from it, move it to the side.
3. Loosen the clamps and remove the air pipe located between the air filter and the engine.
4. Loosen the right front wheel mounting bolts, then raise the vehicle and remove the right front wheel.
5. Remove the bottom strip of fastening of a mudguard of the engine.
6. Remove the top engine cover.
7. Unscrew and remove the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter.
8. Unscrew bolts and remove protective casings of the right and left power shafts.
9. Unscrew bolts and disconnect internal hinges of power shafts from a transmission. Using soft wire, tie the inner ends of the drive shafts to the body.
10. Remove the starter.
11. unscrew the bolt (A), securing the gearbox control rod and remove the link from the gearbox. unscrew the bolt (B) and disconnect the shift rod from the gearbox.
12. Disconnect the tachometer electrical connectors from the transmission (A) and reverse lights (B).
13. Disconnect the ground bar from the gearbox.
14. Unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine, leaving bolts A and B in place, which must be unscrewed last.
15. Install a special lift VAG1383A with bracket 3282 and adjusting plate 3282/10 for gearbox 012/01A under the gearbox. Attach the gearbox to the bracket and adjusting plate.
If there are no special tools for removing the gearbox, support the gearbox with a jack through a block of wood.
16. Loosen the screws on the right (A) and left bolt (IN) gearbox mounts.
17. Remove the remaining two screws (A and B), holding the gearbox to the engine.
18. Move the gearbox away from the engine and lower it 15 cm to expose the clutch slave cylinder.
19. Unscrew the clutch slave cylinder and, using a soft wire, tie it to the body. Do not disconnect the hydraulic hose from the clutch slave cylinder and do not depress the clutch pedal.
20. Being careful, lower a transmission and take it from under the car.
