Work with the VAG 1356 pipe flaring tool on black brake lines is not allowed due to their coating and diameter.

Note: The arrow on the rounded side of the clamps must point towards the edge of the body, and the straight side of the clamps must be installed towards the spindle, otherwise the flare head will not form correctly (pic. 6.52 Note:).
Job Guide
Unscrew the required brake pipe from the caliper or brake cylinder, place a container under the escaping brake fluid and dispose of it properly.
Pic. 6.53. Cutting the brake pipe
Cut the brake pipe in a suitable place (straight cut with free access) with pipe cutter 2 (pic. 6.53).
Remove the defective section.
Degrease the surface of the brake pipe.
Pic. 6.54. Installing the turning tool on the brake pipe
Clamp the brake pipe in pliers 4 so that approx. 50 mm protrudes from the plastic clamping jaws (pic. 6.54).
Clamp the turning tool 3 in the drill and push it onto the brake pipe.
At low speeds of the drill and under light pressure, grind the coating from the brake tube.
The turning length is set by the stop in the turning tool.
Remove the turning tool from the brake tube and remove any remaining chips.
Pic. 6.55. Fitting installation
Remove the pliers and put fitting D on the brake pipe (pic. 6.55).
Pic. 6.56. Inserting the tube into the flaring device
Insert tube B up to stop A into the flaring device (pic. 6.56).
Note: The tube must rest against the stop when tightening the hex screws, otherwise the flare head will not be correct.
Pre-clamp the tube in the flaring device so that it no longer moves. Then fold stop A up and tighten the hexagon screws in a criss-cross pattern with an angled screwdriver C.
Pic. 6.57. Spindle screwing
Screw the spindle all the way into the flare tool (pic. 6.57).
Unscrew the spindle again.
Loosen the hex screws crosswise.
Remove the tube from the flare device, clean it and check the brake pipe and flare.
Flush the part of the brake pipe remaining on the car:
Connect the brake filler and bleeder, put the bleeder hose on the flare and turn on the brake filler and bleeder for a short time so that a small amount of brake fluid flows out.
Blow out the treated brake pipe with compressed air.
Pic. 6.58. Connecting tubes with an adapter
Connect the brake pipes with adapter E (pic. 6.58).
Install the brake line.
Bleed the brake system.
