Location
The battery is located in the engine compartment or at the rear of the vehicle.

The battery is located under the raised floor of the luggage compartment in a plastic container (pic. 1.80).
To remove the container lid, press the side latches and lift the lid upwards.
Make sure that the ventilation hose is always connected to the hole on the side of the battery. Otherwise, electrolyte leakage may occur.
Removing the battery cover

Press the side buttons on the lid (see arrows in figure 1.81) and lift up the cover.
Press the side buttons (arrows 1) and fold down the holder in the direction of arrow 2.
Checking the electrolyte level
The electrolyte level should be checked regularly under the following operating conditions:
- with a high mileage of the car;
- in countries with a hot climate;
- in the presence of a battery with a long service life.
Under normal conditions, the battery does not require maintenance.
Caution: Never open the battery - there is a risk of chemical burns and even explosion. Damaged and leaking batteries should not be installed in the vehicle; such batteries must be disposed of in accordance with all applicable regulations.
Rechargeable battery with control eye
Pic. 1.82. Control peephole for checking the electrolyte level
On the top side of the battery there is a round inspection eye (pic. 1.82). The eye changes color depending on the degree of discharge of the battery and the level of electrolyte in it.
If air bubbles interfere with eye color determination, lightly tap on the eye.
If the eye is colorless or light yellow, the electrolyte level is too low. Top up with distilled water. After 5 years of operation, we recommend replacing the battery.
Battery without inspection eye
The electrolyte level in the battery must always be between the marks «Min» and «Max», printed on the longitudinal sides of the battery. In no case should the electrolyte level be brought above the mark «Max»; at the same time, the level should not be allowed to fall below the mark «Min».
Battery charge
Before charging the battery, turn off the ignition and all current consumers.
When charging with low current (e.g. with a low power charger) there is generally no need to disconnect the connecting wires of the onboard electrical system. In any case, the charger manufacturer's instructions must be followed.
Before boost charging, which means charging with a high current, both connecting wires with the on-board electrical system must be disconnected.
You must follow the instructions below.
Caution: Keep the battery and electrolyte away from children and the charger.
Caution: Charge the battery only in a well-ventilated room. Do not smoke nearby and keep open flames and sparkling appliances away, as when the battery is charged, an explosive gas mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is released.
Caution: Protect your eyes and face. Do not lean close to the battery.
Caution: If electrolyte gets in your eyes or on your skin, rinse immediately with clean water for several minutes and then seek medical attention immediately.
Replacing the battery
