Loosen the camshaft gear (use counterhold to secure) (pic. 2.112).
Pic. 2.113. Gear removal
Remove the camshaft gear with a puller and a paw (pic. 2.113).
Pic. 2.125. Installing the adapter
To insert the oil seal extractor, screw the adapter into the camshaft until hand-tight (pic. 2.125).
Unscrew the inside of the oil seal extractor two turns (about 3 mm) from the outside and secure with a knurled screw.
Pic. 2.126. Screwing in the threaded head
Lubricate the threaded head with engine oil, install and, pressing hard, screw it as deep as possible into the stuffing box (pic. 2.126).
Loosen the knurled bolt and rotate the inside of the puller against the camshaft until the oil seal is removed.
Installing the gland
Wipe off any remaining oil on the camshaft journal with a clean rag.
Seal the groove on the camshaft cone (e.g. duct tape).
Carefully slide the dry seal onto the camshaft journal.
Pic. 2.127. Bolt and mounting sleeve for pressing
Press in the oil seal with the mounting sleeve until it stops. To do this, use a bolt (pic. 2.127).
Insert the featherkey into the camshaft.
Install the camshaft gear (pic. 2.112). To tighten the bolt, hold the camshaft gear with a counterhold. Tightening torque 65 Nm.
Note: When cranking the camshaft, none of the pistons should be at TDC. There is a risk of damage to the valves/piston.
Make sure the feather key is installed correctly.
Install the toothed belt.
Install poly V-belt.
Further installation and assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
