Drain
Open the cover of the expansion tank of the cooling system.
Attention: When opening the expansion tank, hot steam may escape, wrap the cap with a rag and open the tank.
Remove soundproofing.
Remove the retaining bracket for the lower coolant hose and disconnect the coolant hose from the radiator quick connector.
Additionally, to drain the engine coolant, disconnect the coolant hose from the oil cooler.
Note: Follow the rules for disposal
Gulf
The freezing point of the coolant must be at least -25°C (in countries with an arctic climate - not less than -35°C).
Note: Only use G 12 as a concentrate - according to TL VW 774 F. Characteristic feature - lilac color
Note: G 12 lilac (according to TL VW 774 F) may be mixed with previously used concentrate G 12 - red.
Note: G 12 and concentrates marked "according to TL VW 774 F «prevent freezing of the coolant and the formation of corrosion and scale. In addition, they increase the boiling point of the coolant. Therefore, an anti-corrosion concentrate must work in the cooling system throughout the year to prevent freezing and corrosion.
It is also forbidden to reduce the proportion of concentrate in the coolant in the warm season or when operating in countries with a warm climate by adding water to the cooling system. The share of concentrate should be at least 40%.
If, due to climatic conditions, the freezing point must be reduced, you can increase the proportion of G 12 concentrate, but not more than 60% (the freezing point in this case will be about -40°C). If this limit is exceeded, the freezing point will rise again and, in addition, the heat capacity of the coolant will decrease.
When replacing the radiator, heater heat exchanger, cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, the drained coolant must not be reused.
Pic. 2.334. Installing the bracket on the lower coolant hose
Install the lower coolant hose and secure with the retaining clip (pic. 2.334).
Connect the cooling system hoses to the oil cooler.
Install a noise screen.
Screw the adapter to the expansion tank.
Pour coolant into the cooling system circuit using the cooling system filler.
