2. Scroll the crankshaft for a short time with a starter. The fuel pump should turn on for 1 second.
3. If the fuel pump does not turn on, remove relay 12 of the fuel pump (pic. 3.25 a). If you cannot remove the relay without a tool, use the proper tool, but first disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
4. Connect the device for remote control VAG 1348/ZA with an additional wire VAG 1348/3-2 to pin 4 and «+» batteries.
5. Turn on the device for remote control VAG 1348/ZA.
6. Fuel pump is running Check the activation of the fuel pump relay (see wiring diagram).
7. Fuel pump does not work:
- on a Caddy Van: remove the carpet on the right side of the luggage compartment, remove the panel on the right side of the luggage compartment. then remove the cover;
- by Caddy Kombi, Polo Classic, Polo Estate: move the rear seats forward, remove the floor cover.
8. With the cover removed, disconnect the 4-track wiring connector 1 from the flange 2 of the fuel tank (pic. 3.25 b).
9. Connect the VAG 1527 diode tester using the VAG 1594 auxiliary wire to the outer pins of the wiring connector.
10. Turn on the device for remote control. The light bulb should light up. If the light does not come on, check the electrical circuit for an open wire.
11. The light bulb lit up (voltage is normal). Unscrew the flange fastening nut using the key 3217. Check the electrical wires between the flange and the fuel pump.
12. If no open circuit is found, replace the fuel pump.
