Compression test

1. Remove the engine cover (arrows) (rice. 4.5 a).

2. Disconnect the high voltage wire with adapter from the spark plug.

3. Remove the spark plug.

4. Disconnect the four-pin wiring connector from the ignition coil (arrow) (pic. 4.10).



5. Press an accelerator pedal against the stop.

6. Check the compression using a compression gauge VAG 1381 or VAG 1763.

7. Start the engine with the starter and check the compression.

• New engine compression pressure: 10-15 bar.
• Permissible wear: 7 bar.
• Permissible difference between cylinders: 3 bar.
