Note: Removal and installation on an IBIZA vehicle is carried out in principle in the same way.
Removing
Remove the bellows from the rack B and unplug the connectors.
Remove door trim see relevant chapter above.
Remove the lock cylinder housing see relevant chapter above.
Note: The tailgate does not have a lock cylinder in the body.
Unfasten the clamp from the door handle, see relevant chapter above.
Press off plug -1-.
Attention: If the screw is pressed too hard while screwing in, the dowel may fall into the door frame shaft.
Raise door glass up and secure securely, eg with adhesive tape or plastic wedge.
With the ignition off, disconnect the ground wire from the battery (-).
Attention: Follow the instructions given in chapter «Removing and installing the battery».
Remove bolts -3- for door lock.
Remove bolts -arrows-, -1-, -2-. Remove the mechanism holder from the door at the top, lift it up and, tilting towards the door hinge, remove it from the door.
Pull out the electrical wires from the corrugated cover.
Installation
Hook the spring onto the door lock lever, see figure V-4863 in chapter «Removal and installation of the door lock».
Pull the electrical wires through the corrugated cover through the door.
Insert the mechanism holder into the door. Tighten the fastening bolts to 8 Nm. In doing so, first tighten bolts -1- and -2-. Tighten the rest of the bolts in random order, see drawing V-48127.
Tighten the door lock bolts to 20 Nm.
Insert expansion pin -1- and expansion plug -2- into the window glass -3- so that the expansion plug protrudes equally on both sides of the glass.
Push the window pane down and insert it into the slot in the guide -4- for the window lifter.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order.
With the ignition off, connect the ground wire to the battery (-).
Attention. Follow the instructions in chapter «Removing and installing the battery».
If equipped, activate the electric power windows, see chapter «Removing and installing the battery».
Check the operation of the power windows, and also, with the door open, the operation of the locking mechanism.
