Safety instructions for handling electric seat belt tensioners

When carrying out work on seat belts and electric tensioners, strictly follow the following instructions.

• To prevent operation of the seat belt tensioner, it is necessary, with the ignition off, to first disconnect the ground wire from the battery (-), and then the positive wire (+). Follow the instructions in chapter «Removing and installing the battery».
• The seat belt tensioners must not be opened or repaired.
• Pretensioners that have been hit hard, dropped to the floor, or damaged (dents, cracks), must be replaced.
• Never use an impact screwdriver to loosen the tensioner fastener.
• Seat belt tensioners must not be exposed to lubricants, cleaning agents or similar products, or to temperatures above 100°C, even for a short time.
• If the tensioner is triggered, the entire seat belt must be replaced.
