Examination
Mark the direction of tire rotation with an arrow. Loosen wheel bolts. Raise the car in front on the goats and remove the wheels.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in chapter «Removal and installation of a wheel».
Always measure the thickness of the brake disc at its thinnest point -arrows-. At the service station, a special caliper or micrometer with a bracket is used for this, since during operation a shoulder is formed on the brake disc. The thickness of the brake disc can also be measured with a conventional caliper, but then a rigid gasket must be placed on each side of the disc (e.g. two coins). In order to obtain the thickness of the brake disc, the thickness of the pads or coins must be subtracted from the measured size.
Attention: Measure around the circumference of the brake disc at several points.
Nominal dimensions and wear limits for brake discs are given in chapter «Specifications of the brake system».
If the wear limit is reached, the brake discs must be replaced.
If there are large cracks or if there are grooves deeper than 0.5 mm, the brake discs must be replaced, see the relevant chapter.
Ensure the same direction of rotation of the tires, bolt the wheels, lower the vehicle and only then tighten the wheel bolts in a crosswise manner to 120 Nm.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in chapter «Removal and installation of a wheel».
