Rear drum brake mechanism

1 - spring plate
Turn 90°to remove.

2 - pressure spring

3 - brake shoe with lever for handbrake

4 - upper coupling spring
If necessary, remove with VW special tool 3438.

5 - lower coupling spring
Apply grease G000650 to the contact surfaces.

6 - tightening spring

7 - brake shoe
Check brake pad thickness.

8 - plug
To check the thickness of the brake lining, remove.

9 - spacer pin

10 - brake shield

11 — a bolt with an internal hexagon in a head, 8 Nm

12 - wheel brake cylinder
Check tightness.

13 - wedge
To remove and install the brake drum, press upward through the wheel bolt hole.

14 - expansion bar
Apply grease G000650 to the contact surfaces.

15 - contact spring
If necessary, remove with VW special tool 3438.
