Removing
Attention: If the rear axle is removed as an assembly (it is not described here), the vehicle must be securely tied to the lift to prevent it from slipping off the lift. For tying, use reliable belts with a tightening lock.
Pull the plugs out of the side member, pull the belt with tie-lock -2- through the holes in the side member and tighten it under the cantilever beam -1-.
Safety note
There is a risk of accident when lifting the vehicle! You must first read the section «Vehicle lifting».
Raise the car from behind.
To remove the left coil spring, remove the after muffler.
Attach a suitable spring compressor as close to the coils as possible. The figure shows a VW spring compressor. The HAZET 4900-2A tool can also be used with the HAZET 4900-10 receivers.
Attention: When compressing, make sure that the coil spring is correctly positioned in the receptacles of the compression device -arrow-.
Compress the spring so that it can be removed.
Remove coil spring, supports and receiver -2- for upper support -1-.
Installation
Note: Coil springs should only be replaced at the same time for the entire axle, using springs with the same color code and from the same manufacturer.
Check if the bottom galvanized support is not damaged, if necessary, replace the support.
Install the compressed coil spring together with the supports. The end of the spring coil -arrow- must rest on the support stop.
Release the coiled spring slowly and remove the spring compressor. Make sure that the outer surfaces of the spring are not damaged.
If necessary install after muffler.
Lower the car.
