Scheme of switching on the starter / traction relay
If the traction relay -1- is defective, the starter gear -2- does not extend to the flywheel ring gear and the starter cannot turn the engine crankshaft.
Installed check
Test prerequisite: The battery is fully charged.
Switch off the ignition.
Disengage the gear, put the gear lever in neutral position, respectively, put the automatic transmission mode selector lever in position P.
Raise the car on the goats and remove lower engine cover.
To test, connect an auxiliary wire, for example, starting, to terminal 50 of the traction relay (thin wire to the ignition switch).
Connect the other end of the auxiliary wire briefly to terminal 30 (thick positive wire goes to the battery).
In this case, the starter gear should quickly be thrown forward. If this is not the case, then replace the traction relay.
Inspection in dismantled state
Test prerequisite: The battery is fully charged.
remove starter, see previous chapter.
Connect the starter housing to the negative pole with the starter wire (-) battery.
Connect the second start wire to the positive pole (+) battery.
Connect the other end of the second auxiliary wire briefly to terminal 50 of the traction relay.
In this case, the starter gear should quickly be thrown forward. If this is not the case, then replace the traction relay.
