Cables that need to be routed when installing accessories other than the cables fitted as standard in the vehicle must always be routed along the existing wiring harnesses, if possible, using the already existing cable ties and rubber grommets.
If necessary, to prevent noise during the trip and avoid chafing, newly laid wires must be additionally secured with insulating tape, polymer mass, tape clamps for fastening wires, etc. there would be a distance of at least 10 mm between the fixed wires, and a distance of at least 25 mm between the brake lines and the wires that oscillate with the engine or with other parts of the vehicle.
After drilling holes in the body, the edges of the holes should be deburred, primed and varnished. Chips that inevitably form during drilling must be removed from the body without residue.
During all work that affects the electrical wire system, in order to prevent the danger of short circuits and overloading of the wires, it is necessary to disconnect the ground wire with the ignition off (-) from the battery and hang it aside.
Caution: If the battery is disconnected, the fault code memory as well as electrical devices such as radios and clocks are de-energized, and the registered fault codes are correspondingly erased. Specific guidance on this topic is provided in chapter «Removing and installing the battery».
Before installing additional devices that consume electricity, it is necessary to check whether the existing alternator can handle the increased load. If necessary, the installation of a high power generator should be provided.
