The engine code and number are located on a sticker on the toothed belt guard -arrow- or on the engine bracket (right engine mount when viewed in the direction of travel of the vehicle).
Note: The letter designation and engine number are also stamped on the cylinder block, namely on the left side under the junction of the cylinder head with the block. In addition, the engine code can be found in the vehicle data sheet in the service book and in the spare wheel well.
The data plate -1- is located in the engine compartment on the right wheel arch support cup; for IBIZA - on the left support cup of the wheel arch.
Vehicle identification number (vehicle chassis number) -2- is on the left (at the IBIZA car on the right) support cup of the wheel arch and is additionally visible under the left wiper blade when viewed from the outside.

POLO: The vehicle data plate is affixed to the right side of the spare wheel well. It contains the following vehicle data:
- 1 - vehicle identification number
- 2 - car type, engine power, gearbox
- 3 - letter designation of the engine, letter designation of the gearbox, paintwork number / designation of internal equipment
- 4 - designation of additional equipment, PR number
- 5 - data on refueling volumes of the vehicle
IBIZA: The vehicle data plate is affixed to the right side of the spare wheel well. It contains the following vehicle data:
- 1 - steering serial number
- 2 - vehicle identification number
- 3 - car type
- 4 - expanded type designation / engine power
- 5 - designation of the engine and gearbox
- 6 - number of paintwork / designation of internal equipment
- 7 - designation of additional equipment
