1.4L petrol engine
Special tool: not required.
Required replacement parts:
Timing belt if needed.
Examination
Release the clamps on the top toothed belt cover and remove the cover.
Check the toothed belt visually for the following damage.
- Cracks -A-, fractures in cross-sections on the back side.
- Development of the side surface -B- of the toothed belt.
- Destruction, fringing -C-threads of cord.
- Cracks -D- at the base of the belt teeth.
- Longitudinal stratification of a toothed belt/cord threads
- Traces of oil and grease.
A damaged toothed belt must be replaced, see section «Engine».
Install the upper belt cover and secure with clips.
