Petrol engine car
Be sure to use unleaded gasoline only.
To start the engine by pushing or towing, only one attempt can be made within a distance of no more than 50 m. It is best, if necessary, to start the engine from the battery of another vehicle using jump leads. Once in the catalytic converter, unburned fuel can flare up and overheat and destroy the catalytic converter. Once the engine is at operating temperature, it must not be started by pushing or towing.
If misfiring occurs, avoid high engine speeds and repair the fault immediately.
Use only standard spark plugs.
Do not perform any spark test without a sufficient ground connection.
It is impossible to carry out any comparative assessments of the operation of the cylinders by turning off the ignition of one cylinder. When the ignition of one cylinder is turned off - also through the engine test bench - unburned fuel enters the catalytic converter.
Car with petrol or diesel engine
Do not park over dry leaves, grass or stubble. The exhaust system in the area of the catalytic converter is very hot and radiates heat even after the engine has stopped.
Do not apply underbody protection to the exhaust system.
Do not modify exhaust system heat shields.
If you have difficulty starting, do not keep the starter turned on uselessly for a long time. When starting, fuel is constantly injected. Determine the cause of the malfunction and eliminate.
Never run out of fuel in the tank completely.
When filling and topping up engine oil, take special care to ensure that the maximum permissible oil level, as determined by the dipstick, is never exceeded (top mark). Otherwise, as a result of incomplete combustion, excess oil will enter the catalytic converter and may damage the precious metal or completely destroy the converter.
