Checking work
Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector at the upper coolant connection.
Note: By disconnecting the plug, the engine is simulated as cold, which results in the preheating process starting when the ignition is switched on.
Disconnect plug connectors for glow plugs.
Connect a multimeter between the glow plug plug and the engine ground to measure the voltage.
Switch on the ignition and check the voltage. Prescribed value: Approx. battery voltage.
If the specified value is not reached: Eliminate wire break or short circuit.
Checking glow plugs
Test condition: battery voltage must be at least 11.5 volts.
Switch off the ignition.
Disconnect plug connectors for glow plugs.
Connect a test lamp on semiconductor diodes to the positive pole (+) battery and connect it to each glow plug in series.
- If the LED lights up, then the glow plug is good.
- If the LED does not light up, the glow plug must be replaced.
Connect the plug connectors of all glow plugs and erase the contents of the fault code memory (at the service station).
