Volkswagen Beetle 1960-1986: Front torsion bar suspension (Chassis / Front suspension)

The supporting element of such a front suspension is a cross member, which is attached to the frame with four bolts. Torsion bars are used as an elastic element. There is one torsion bar for each wheel, which is fixed inside from shifting and turning. Swivel knuckles are installed on the bearing arms. The brake drum and wheel hub are made as one unit. The wheel is mounted on two ball bearings. Vehicle vibrations are damped by 2 telescopic shock absorbers.

There are 4 ball lubricators in the front suspension beam, which must be lubricated every 30,000 km or once a year.
