The marking ring on the steering shaft must be aligned with the edge of the steering gear housing.
Mount the toe-in gauge on the top of the wheel rim and mark the mounting location with chalk. Set the measuring scale of the instrument to zero.
Roll the vehicle forward half a turn of the wheels and place the measuring device on the chalk mark. The measured value is equal to the total convergence value.
Compare measured value with prescribed value (see table at the end of the chapter).
If the toe-in is too large, turn both tips backwards in relation to the direction of travel of the vehicle.
If the toe-in is too small, turn both tips forward in relation to the direction of travel.
Before adjusting the toe, loosen the locknuts or tie rods on the tie rods.
Attention! If the spokes of the steering wheel are at an angle when driving straight ahead, you need to straighten the position of the steering mechanism. Depending on the direction in which the steering wheel spokes are inclined, one tie rod should be lengthened and the other shortened by the same size.
If the tie rods are lengthened or shortened by the same amount, the toe does not change.
Attention! Incorrect steering position cannot be corrected by simply changing the steering wheel.
Tighten the locknuts or clamps on the tie rods.
