Connect a test lamp to terminal 1 of the ignition coil and to "mass". At the moment of ignition, the lamp lights up.
Turn on the ignition. Turn the crankshaft at the V-belt until the corresponding ignition groove (see table) on the V-belt pulley coincided with the junction of the halves of the engine block and so that the ignition distributor slider points to the mark of the 1st cylinder on the edge of the distributor housing.
Loosen the clamping bolt of the ignition distributor.
If the lamp does not light up when the groove of the V-belt pulley coincides with the junction of the halves of the engine block and at the corresponding position of the movable contact of the distributor slider, then you need to turn the distributor clockwise until the breaker contact closes. Then slowly turn the distributor to the left until the contact starts to open and the lamp lights up.
Tighten the distributor clamping bolt and check the ignition timing again.
The ignition timing is set correctly if, during slow rotation of the crankshaft in the working direction, the lamp lights up exactly at the moment when the corresponding groove on the V-belt pulley coincides with the joint of the engine block and the movable contact of the ignition distributor slider is directed to the mark on the edge of the distributor housing.
Attention! Adjustment of the moment of ignition by means of a control lamp is auxiliary. After such an adjustment, the torque setting must be rechecked with a stroboscope as soon as possible.
Install the ignition distributor cap.
