Malfunctions of the engine lubrication system

Malfunction	Cause	Remedy
The emergency oil pressure warning lamp does not light up after the ignition is turned on	Open in the electrical circuit of the oil pressure sensor	Check sensor contacts
	Electrical contacts corroded	Check connections
	Faulty oil pressure sensor	Replace sensor
The warning lamp for emergency oil pressure does not go out after starting the engine	Too hot oil	It should not cause concern if the lamp goes out with an increase in speed. Otherwise:
	Faulty oil pressure sensor	Replace sensor
	Too low oil pressure	Check the oil pressure in the lubrication system (see section "Removing, installing and checking the oil pressure sensor")
Oil pressure warning light comes on while driving	Too low oil pressure in the system	Check oil pressure (see section "Removing, installing and checking the oil pressure sensor")
Too low oil pressure in the system	Little oil in the engine	Check oil level, top up if necessary
	Faulty oil pump	Check pump, replace if necessary
	Damaged bearing	Send the engine in for repair
