Removing
The fan shroud can be removed without removing the motor. But to remove the cover, you must first remove the engine protective cover, and this is easier to do with the engine removed.
Disconnect wire "masses" from the battery.
Remove the air filter, disconnect the hoses of the heating and ventilation system.
Unhook the rod from the carburetor and remove the guide tube.
Remove carburetor (see section "Removal and installation of the carburetor").
Remove V-belt (see section "Removing, installing and tensioning the alternator drive V-belt").
Disconnect wires from alternator and ignition coil.
Remove the band clamp from the generator.
When adjusting with a throttle ring: remove the return spring and loosen the 2 bolts on the throttle ring.
Loosen the slotted screws on both sides of the fan cowl.
On Kafer 1300/1600 vehicles: remove the oil cooler vent shield.
Lift up the fan shroud with adjuster and alternator without damaging the oil cooler.
Installation
When lowering the cover, insert the thermostat connection rod into the opening in the cylinder head. Make sure that the side surfaces of the cylinders are tightly covered by the casing. If necessary, carefully straighten the protective covers.
When adjusting the throttle ring, install the throttle ring, center it relative to the suction pipe, attach it to the support sheet stamping and install the return spring.
Install thermostat.
Insert the guide, connect the rod to the carburetor, install the carburetor, fix the rod.
Fasten the alternator with a band clamp, install and tension the V-belt.
Connect electrical wires to alternator and ignition coil.
Connect the hoses of the heating and ventilation system, install the air filter.
Connect wire "masses" to the battery.
