Replacement of protective covers of semiaxes

In case of damage to the protective covers of the axle shafts, the gearbox can not be removed, since split covers are available as a spare part.

Removing

Raise the rear of the vehicle and place it on stands.

Loosen and remove the clamp of the protective cover of the axle shaft. Cut open the cover and throw it away.

Clean the boot mount and bearing cover. The seating surfaces for the boot must be thoroughly cleaned of oil and dirt.

Installation

Lubricate the interfaces of the split protective boot with a thin layer of sealant D3.

Wrap the cover around the axle shaft so that the connecting seam is horizontal and points to the rear.



Fasten the cover with a clip.

Attention! Tighten the clamp mounting bolts with the rear suspension loaded (the car is on the ground). Avoid twisting the boot so as not to warp the sealing surfaces.

Check the oil level in the gearbox.
