Disconnecting and connecting terminals from the battery

To ensure safety when working on the electrical system, it is necessary to remove the negative terminal from the battery.

Remove the positive battery terminal only when removing the battery.

To disconnect the terminals from the battery, perform the following steps.

1. Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

2. Open the lock (arrow) and remove the battery cover.



3. Unscrew the earth cable terminal (1) from the negative terminal of the battery.

4. Unscrew the positive terminal (2) from the positive terminal of the battery.

Accession

Attention: to prevent damage to the battery case, its terminals should be put on the terminals only by hand, i.e. without the use of force.

Caution: Do not lubricate battery terminals.

To connect the terminals to the battery, you must perform the following steps.

1. Put on the positive terminal (2) to the positive terminal of the battery and tighten the fastening bolt to the prescribed torque.

2. Put on the cable clamp «masses» (1) to the negative terminal of the battery and tighten the fastening bolt to the prescribed torque.

Examination

1. Turn the ignition on and off with the key.

2. Read the fault memory using a tester.

3. Check clock setting, adjust if necessary.

4. Fully lower, then raise all windows again in order to adjust the power windows.

5. Check the performance of all electrical consumers of electricity.
