Removing
To remove the upper engine cover, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the hose connecting the air filter housing to the camshaft bearing housing from the oil filler check valve.
2. Remove the air filter housing from the mountings and the throttle control unit (arrows).
Installation
Installing the air filter housing is carried out in reverse order.
4-cylinder petrol engine with code BGU (1.6 l, gasoline, 75 kW, 102 hp)
To remove the upper engine cover, follow these steps:
Removing
1. Remove the dipstick (1).
2. Release the engine cover at the attachment points (2) and lift up (arrows).
3. Disconnect the electrical connector and hose connection (3) below the engine cover.
Installation
1. Install the engine cover on the latches (2) and lightly press them until the latches snap into place.
2. Connect electrical connector and hose connection (3) below the engine cover.
3. Insert dipstick (1) into the guide tube.
4-cylinder diesel engine with code BJB (1.9 l, t HEAT, 77 kW, 105 hp, with pump nozzle)
To remove the upper engine cover, follow these steps:
Removing
1. Remove the dipstick (1).
2. Release the engine cover from the clamps (arrow 2) and lift.
3. Then remove the engine cover towards the front (arrow 3).
Installation
1. Install the engine cover on the latches and lightly press them until the latches click into place.
2. Insert dipstick (1) into the guide tube.
4 cylinder diesel engine (TDI with unit injector) with letter designation BSU (1.9 l; TDI, 55 kW, 70 hp, with unit injector), BLS (1.9 l - TDI, 77 kW, 105 hp, with unit injector)
The engine cover consists of two separate parts:
- A - outside (shaded in the figure);
- B - central part (not shaded in the figure).
To remove the upper engine cover, follow these steps:
Removing
1. Carefully release and remove the engine cover at the individual attachment points.
2. Remove the outer part (1).
3. Middle part (2) should also be carefully loosened and removed.
Installation
1. Put on the engine cover at the attachment points. (arrows) and press.
2. Outer part (1) put on at the attachment points (arrows) and press until it clicks.
