1. Unscrew the plug of the water pumping hole (1).
2. Connect the hose of the condensate drain tank to the fitting.
3. Use a hand vacuum pump to extract approximately 100 ml of diesel fuel.
4. Replace the O-ring of the water drain plug.
5. Tighten the drain plug to 3 Nm.
6. Loosen all screws (arrows) the top of the fuel filter in a criss-cross pattern of approximately 1.5-2 turns.
7. Completely unscrew the screws and remove the top part of the fuel filter.
8. Remove replacement element (1) filter and seal (2) from the bottom (4) fuel filter.
9. Replace seal (3).
10. Install a new filter element into the bottom of the fuel filter.
11. Install new seal (1) to the top of the fuel filter.
12. Install the top of the fuel filter with seal on the bottom of the fuel filter.
13. Twist the top of the fuel filter with the bottom of it.
14. Tighten the screws in the sequence shown in the figure.
15. Tighten the screws with a tightening torque of 5 Nm. Tightening the screws in this sequence (see fig. VC1.051) prevents tilting of the top of the fuel filter and consequent damage to the seal.
16. Start the engine and inspect the fuel filter for fuel leaks.
To ensure a quick start of the engine after replacing the fuel filter, air must be bled from the fuel system using a tester. This work must be carried out in a specialized service station.
