Engine disassembly and assembly (BCA and BUD)

Attention! The engines under consideration use an aluminum cylinder block.

When tightening the screws for fastening the caps of the main bearings of the crankshaft, deformations of the cylinder block provided by the designer occur. When unscrewing the screws securing the main bearing caps, uncontrolled relaxation of the metal of the block may occur. This leads to the fact that when reinstalling the crankshaft, it is not possible to guarantee that the required clearances in the main bearings of the crankshaft are maintained.

Therefore, the manufacturer does not guarantee the performance of the bearings after removing and installing the crankshaft.

This is reflected in the spare parts catalog (see fig. VC2.015 and table to it).

Attention!

• If, during engine repairs, metal chips and wear products are found in the engine oil in large quantities, the source of which is increased wear, for example, due to damage to the connecting rod bearing, in order to avoid subsequent damage, in addition to thoroughly cleaning the lubrication channels, it is necessary to replace the oil filter.
• All supporting and working surfaces must be lubricated with engine oil before installation work.
