Removal and installation of a back cover of the block of cylinders

A design feature of the rear cover of the cylinder block is the presence in its composition of the ring gear of the engine speed sensor (crankshaft position), which comes with the crankshaft rear oil seal as one piece. Moreover, when the cover is installed in place, the ring gear is put on the crankshaft. After centering the cover relative to the crankshaft, the ring gear rotates freely in the cover. The gap between the ring gear and the sensor is ensured by the design of the cover and its correct installation.

Work order

1. Remove flywheel and/or driven disc.

2. Set the engine to the TDC of cylinder No. 1.

3. Remove the oil pan.

4. Remove the engine speed sensor (G28) (arrow).

5. To unscrew screws of fastening of a back cover of the block of cylinders.

Attention! The sealing flange and ring gear are removed (from the crankshaft) with three M6x35 mm screws.

6. Screw three screws M6x35 mm into the threaded holes of the flange (arrows).



7. Alternate twisting (max 1/2 turn (180°) each screw) screws into the sealing flange, remove the crankshaft rear cover together with the engine speed sensor (G28) from the crankshaft.
