Checking the semi-automatic toothed belt tensioner

Mounting position:

• Retainer (arrow) roller must enter the recess on the cylinder head.

Checking procedure

Set the crankshaft to the TDC position of the first cylinder.

Press firmly on the belt with your thumb. Arrow (2) should move.

After ceasing to press the belt, turn the crankshaft two turns in the direction of rotation of the engine and set it again in the position corresponding to the TDC of the first cylinder. At the same time, the last 45' (1/8 turn) the crankshaft must rotate without stopping (increase in effort),

The tension roller should return to its original position (risk (1) and arrow (2) should fit).
