On all modifications of the Sharan car, a two-cavity master brake cylinder with a sequential piston arrangement is installed. A tank is attached to the body of the main cylinder, in the filler neck of which a brake fluid emergency level sensor is installed.
When you press the brake pedal, pressure is created simultaneously in both hydraulic drive circuits due to the two pistons of the master brake cylinder: the pressure piston (closest to push rod) circuit drive «left front - right rear brakes» and intermediate piston drive circuit «right front - left rear brakes».
The main brake cylinder cannot be repaired and, if it fails, is replaced with a new one.
Note. If suddenly the force required for braking becomes much greater and the stopping distance becomes longer, then the cause of this is almost certainly a failure of one of the brake circuits.
