Generator — general information

The generator is the main source of current in the power supply system of the Sharan. When the engine is running, it supplies electricity to all electrical units and provides battery charging. The alternator is driven by a V-ribbed belt. The generator generates three-phase alternating current, which the rectifier converts to direct (the rectifier circuit is made on semiconductor diodes). In addition, maintaining a constant voltage and protecting the generator from overloads is provided by a voltage regulator.
